About this Activity Set

If you've not yet done so, watch the intro video for this activity set, Lecturing Effectively.

Definition

The Lecture Style Inventory is an assessment of instructor preferences when offering lectures.

Purpose and Goal

Lecturing effectively is a challenge. We know a good lecture when we hear it, but it can be difficult to apply what we experience listening to someone else lecture to improve what we do as lecturers in our courses. This activity is an informal assessment intended to help you understand your lecture style so that you can build on your strengths and learn to lecture more effectively.

It is intended to help you understand who you are as a lecturer, to help you plan lectures more effectively, and to provide a starting point for discussion of teaching preferences and styles with your colleagues.
