Definition

A Logical Lecture Structure Graphic is a graphic organizer that guides you to foreground the pattern that unifies the main points underlying your lecture

Purpose and Goal

When preparing a lecture, it can be challenging to decide which content to include and which content to remove. There is typically an abundance of information and a short time within which to share it with students. Research suggests, however, that restricting ourselves to a few main points that are logically organized can help improve student learning. In this activity, you choose the most appropriate graphic organizer for your lecture content and then fill in the main ideas. Choosing and then working through such a structure can help you to organize your ideas. It can also help you understand that you need a limited number of main points and to be clear on your supporting details.
