About this Activity Set

If you've not yet done so, watch the intro video for this activity set, Assessing and Grading Learning.

Definition

In this activity, you will create an Assessment Plan by using a template that asks you to align course objectives with appropriate assessment methods, describe strategies for providing feedback to students, and identify how you will measure the effectiveness of your assessment methods.

Purpose and Goal

As a faculty member, not having a well-defined assessment plan can make it difficult to measure student learning outcomes accurately and consistently. This lack of clarity can lead to ineffective or incomplete assessments, resulting in gaps in student learning or inaccurate evaluations of student performance. Without a clear assessment plan, it can also be challenging to identify areas where students may be struggling or to provide targeted feedback to help them improve. Overall, a lack of a clear assessment plan can make it harder to achieve course objectives and ensure that students are learning what they need to learn to succeed.

Completing an Assessment Plan can help you develop a meaningful path for assessing student learning and ensuring alignment between your goals and assessment strategies.
